BBEST Forum Meeting

2016 BBEST Forum and annual general meeting

Saturday, 19th November, 2016

Fulwood Room, Beacon Methodist Church (next to Broomhill Oxfam)

Come and find out about the BBEST neighbourhood plan’s development to date & what we will be up to over the next year. There will also be a presentation on the emerging BBEST Design Guide and on the development of BBEST walking routes and historic Gazetteer as well as other general business. We need your input on these aspects to take them forward as part of the plan. So make a point of coming to this annual event and invite your neighbours.

If you would like to get involved in leadership with our amazing BBEST team, please get in touch before the meeting at We are always open to new people and welcome all offers of help in whatever capacity you can offer.

See you on the 19th!

Volunteers Needed!

As we approach the initial public consultation of the BBEST plan, we are seeking volunteers to support BBEST in two areas: a pedestrian survey to build up the evidence base for the Boulevard project and support for the BBEST website.

If you are interested in either (or both!) of these projects, please email us at

PEDESTRIAN SURVEY in September & October

BBEST is looking for volunteers to carry out a survey of pedestrian numbers in Broomhill.  This will provide valuable evidence on conditions for pedestrians in support of proposals for improvement. The information will also be of interest to businesses in the area.

Volunteers will count the number of pedestrians in each direction for half hour slots at various times and locations in Broomhill between the hours of 7:30am-6:30pm.  Survey dates are Tuesdays and Thursdays in late September and October 2016. Full details will be given and a number of mechanical counters are available to make counting easier.

The survey will need about 6 people surveying for around 8 half hour slots each – less slots each if there are more people of course.

WEBSITE SUPPORT – minimal monthly support

The BBEST website ( has recently undergone a facelift and has additional facilities – as yet still in the background – ahead of the initial BBEST consultation period in September 2016.  BBEST is looking for a volunteer, or volunteers, to help support the website at this important time for the BBEST project. This does not require advanced skills, rather interest and a minimal amount of time each month.  Please get in touch if you think you could help us with this.

Consultation on University Social Sciences Building

The Public Consultation Period for the University of Sheffield’s new Social Sciences building will continue until midday on Monday 25th July. There is another opportunity to see the building model and meet members of the project team who will be available to present the strategy, plans and answer any questions you may have. The event will take place on Tuesday 19th July from 4pm in the Goodwin Sports Hall.
Information about the new building is available at:
Please feedback your comments via their online questionnaire at the website above before the end of their consultation at noon on 25th July.
