Protect public spaces, improve the quality of building, encourage different housing types, and enhance the retail centre
Vote YES for the BBEST Neighbourhood Plan on May 6th.
The BBEST Team has worked with the local community for 7 years to develop a Neighbourhood Plan for the area. The Plan has now been finalised and will come into force if there is a majority ‘YES’ vote in the Referendum on May 6th.
A word from the BBEST Chair:
After seven years hard work, and a consultation process praised by our independent examiner as exemplary, local people can vote on the Neighbourhood Plan – a positive vote will add significant planning policies to protect public spaces, improve the quality of building, encourage different housing types and enhance the retail centre’

What is ‘the BBEST area’?
BBEST stands for Broomhill, Broomfield, Endcliffe, Summerfield and Tapton. The BBEST area is shown in the BBEST Policies Map
The Plan
The Plan was agreed in consultation with local residents, businesses and other organisations. It has had a series of formal consultations, and been scrutinised by an external examiner. The present Plan document is the outcome of all these processes.
The Design Guide
Based on a review of character neighbourhoods within the BBEST area, and high quality architectural and design principles, the Design Guide is a resource for Planners, residents and builders who want to maintain the distinctive characters of the BBEST area.
Vision Statement
The BBEST Forum has developed a number of aims over the years which go beyond
the Neighbourhood Plan. This document provides an overview of those aims.
The Sheffield City Council website has information about Neighbourhood Planning locally, including BBEST.

If the Referendum on 6 May 2021 is successful, BBEST Officers will continue to work with staff in the Planning Department to monitor the implementation of the Plan. We’ll continue regular meetings with our Steering Group, and develop the operating manual for BBEST phase 2. Click here for the BBEST Chair’s outline of Phase 2.
