Upcoming Consultation Event in April

You are warmly invited to attend BBEST’s latest consultation meeting to discuss two of our themes: development and conservation and green and open spaces (for more on our working groups please click here).

The event will take place at Broomhill Library7-9pm, Tuesday 28th April, 2015 –  everyone is welcome to come and help to steer the progress of our Neighbourhood Plan. A presentation on each theme will be followed by general discussion of policies and projects for inclusion in the draft Plan.

Development and Conservation
Following a presentation on the scope of this theme, items for discussion will include: how can the neighbourhood plan influence key development sites, enhancement of public spaces, designation of ‘community assets’.

Green and Open Spaces
The environmental consultancy ECUS will present surveys carried out for BBEST on green spaces, trees and green corridors. Areas for discussion include: guerilla gardening, parklets, regular maintenance of existing spaces, maintaining our trees.

If you are not able to come to the meeting you can send your views at any time to info@bbest.org.uk. The draft plan will be reviewed at the BBEST AGM in November 2015, with the vote for adoption of the final plan in 2016.

We look forward to seeing you on the 28th April and hearing your views!

BBEST is formally recognised & the Plan for 2015!

As of January, we have been formally recognised as a Neighbourhood Planning Forum by the Sheffield City Council!  Three cheers for all those who were instrumental in making this happen.

During 2015 the main work of BBEST will be carried out by Groups working on the 5 key themes identified during the consultations:

  1. Active Travel
  2. Green & Open spaces
  3. Central Retail district
  4. Sustainable & Balanced community
  5. Architecture & Conservation

Quite a lot of information has been gathered in the last year to support the work of these groups.  It is particularly worth having a look at the green space plan and the tree survey work by ECUS which has just been uploaded to the Green & Open Space page.  This will be discussed at an upcoming meeting soon.  Stay tuned for announcement of dates.

The work of all the groups will be presented at Forum Planning and Consultation meetings throughout the year, followed by consultation of the first draft of the Plan at the AGM and Planning forum Development Session scheduled for November 7th 2015.

Please have a look at the working group pages on this website and get involved in any way you can to support a bright future for the BBEST area.
